Cathy Nichols began studying art in her hometown of Huntington, New York as a high school student at the Huntington School of Fine Arts where she fell in love with figure drawing, painting and sculpture. She then went on to earn an M.A. in Literature from Colorado State University where she explored the role of language in cultural transformation until returning again to her love of painting. Cathy now lives in Venice, California and creates richly colored acrylic and oil paintings which celebrate memories, dreams and the capacity for inner perceptions to transform the contours of everyday life. Her work also includes commissioned 'narrative' portraits that reflect the sitter's inner stories as well as outer likeness
